Description
Ingredients
For this magical 5-ingredient breakfast dip, you’ll need:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened (full-fat works best, but reduced-fat is an acceptable substitute)
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup (the real stuff makes a difference, but honey works in a pinch)
- 1/2 cup crumbled cooked bacon (about 6–7 strips – or use pre-cooked bacon bits when you’re short on time)
- 1/3 cup chopped green onions (white and light green parts)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (my secret ingredient that ties everything together)
Instructions
In a medium mixing bowl, place your softened cream cheese. If you forgot to take it out of the refrigerator ahead of time (happens to me more than I’d like to admit!), unwrap it and microwave for about 15-20 seconds until soft but not melted.
Using a hand mixer or stand mixer with the paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese until smooth and fluffy. This usually takes about 1-2 minutes. Make sure there are no lumps hiding in there!
Pour the maple syrup into the whipped cream cheese while continuing to mix on low speed. The maple syrup adds a wonderful natural sweetness that pairs beautifully with the savory elements we’ll be adding. Once incorporated, increase to medium speed and beat for another 30 seconds until well combined.
This is where the magic happens! Fold in your crumbled bacon, chopped green onions, and cinnamon using a rubber spatula. Stir gently until everything is evenly distributed throughout the cream cheese mixture.
The contrast between the sweet maple cream cheese base, savory bacon, fresh green onions, and warm cinnamon creates a flavor profile that’s absolutely addictive. Each bite offers different flavors that somehow work perfectly together.
For the best flavor development, transfer your breakfast dip to a serving bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together. If you’re in a hurry (like most mornings at our house!), you can serve it immediately, but I promise it’s worth the wait if you have time.
When ready to serve, give the dip a quick stir and add any optional garnishes. Serve with your choice of dippers (see serving suggestions below), and watch as everyone gathers around for “just one more bite.”
